This privacy statement was written to explain in what cases we will request certain types of personal information from our visitors -- e.g. name and email address -- and what we do to insure the safekeeping of that information.
This privacy statement describes the practices of the entire family of web sites associated with Erratic Impact, including: erraticimpact.com, harmonicity.com, causticity.com, contrapose.com, ecofeminism.net, crasis.com, queertheory.com and panphobia.com.
As research directories, Erratic Impact's family of web sites (listed in the above paragraph) rely heavily on recommended links to other web sites. Please understand that when you click on a recommended link, you may move to another web site unrelated to Erratic Impact. Erratic Impact has no control over the content, availability and privacy policies of such sites. Thus, this privacy statement does not describe privacy practices of such links. We suggest you read the privacy statements of recommended links since privacy policies of such sites may differ greatly from ours. We believe it good personal policy to always read the privacy statements associated with any site that asks for your personal information.
When you visit Erratic Impact and other sites within our family of sites, you have the option to sign-up for our philosophy Newsletter. If you do join the Newsletter, the form asks for your name and email address. This information is kept private, and is never sold or released to third parties. Signing-up for the Newsletter is not mandatory. If you do join, you always have the option to cancel. In the event of a cancellation, the information you had previously supplied to us (your name and email address) will be deleted from the database.
When you register with Erratic Impact, the form asks for your First and Last Name, your Login or UserName, your Email Address. Once this information is submitted, you have the opportunity to submit additional personal and professional information that becomes publicly available to our visitors. In addition to your name, such information can include your homepage URL, your CV URL, your Academic Affiliation, your Occupation (e.g. "Student," "Technician," or "Professor"), your Area(s) of Interest, your Author(s) of Interest, your Area(s) of Specialization, your Area(s) of Competence. Membership is for the purpose of having this information publicly available. You also have the option of making your email address available to our visitors. Upon becoming a member, you provide such information at your own choosing. None of this information will be used by Erratic Impact in any way except to present this information to our visitors. In the event that you choose to cancel your membership to Erratic Impact's Membership Area, the information you had previously supplied to us will be deleted from the database at which point such information will no longer be available for public viewing.
If you email any of the various contact addresses at Erratic Impact's family of web sites, your email address will, of course be attached to your letter.
