The International Association for Critical
Realism (IACR) was established in 1997 with the basic objective of
serving as a networking or otherwise facilitating resource for
anyone broadly sympathetic to, or concerned with, realist
philosophy and social theory. Given the current crises in the
social sciences and philosophy, it was widely felt that such a
resource is urgently needed. To this end IACR intends, amongst
other things, to facilitate annual conferences (both within Europe
and in other parts of the world) and to organise or help
co-ordinate and publicise lectures, seminars, workshops, summer
schools and related events concerned in any way with realist
philosophy and social theory. It also hopes to facilitate related
research projects.

The ICGPC has its aim to promote international
research into Greek philosophy, and to coordinate and develop the
research carried out by specialists in Greek philosophy, and Greek
Culture.
The Center views Greek Philosophy as including
the philosophical production of the Greeks from the time of the
Presocratics until today, since this intellectual production is
expressed in the same language, namely Greek. Thus, it is not only
the Ancient Greek Classical Philosophy that is defined as Greek
Philosophy, but also that philosophy of the Church Fathers,
together with Byzantine, Modern Greek and Contemporary Greek
Philosophy.

International Association for Philosophy and Literature is
dedicated to the exchange of ideas and scholarly research within
the humanities. Founded to provide a context for the interplay of
Philosophy, Literary Theory, and Cultural / Textual Studies, the
Association brings together scholars from the full range of
disciplines concerned with philosophical, historical, critical,
and theoretical issues.
With its focus on interdisciplinary topics and
concerns, the IAPL, since its founding in the mid-1970s, has
represented and participated in many of the most vital and
exciting developments at the intersection of philosophy and
literature. The association's annual meetings provide a unique
opportunity for dialogue and the exchange of ideas, the
articulation of contemporary themes and topics, the exploration of
various expressive arts, and the production of new theoretical
discourses.

The International Center for Jefferson Studies was
created in 1994 by the Thomas Jefferson Memorial Foundation, the
private, nonprofit corporation which owns and operates Monticello,
and whose mission is preservation and education. Sponsoring a
research center devoted to Jefferson studies, a long-term goal of
the Foundation, was made possible by the availability of Kenwood,
a 78-acre residential estate on land once owned by Jefferson.
Bequeathed to the University of Virginia for educational purposes,
Kenwood presented a unique opportunity for collaboration, whereby
the University's land and facilities are leased to the Foundation,
which has sole responsibility for the Center's financial support
and administration.
The International Center is multidisciplinary
and supports:
 | Fellowships for visiting scholars, graduate
students, and teachers
 | Study facilities and residential
accommodations
 | Programs that promote the study of Jefferson
internationally |
 | Conferences, lectures, seminars, internships,
and other educational programs
 | New research tools and technologies for
disseminating Jefferson scholarship |
 | Publications for scholars, teachers, and the
general public |

The International Humanist and Ethical Union is the
international organization for humanism. IHEU campaigns on
humanist issues, develops practical humanist initiatives,
represents humanist concerns at international bodies, and supports
humanist organizations and individuals throughout the world.
IHEU Activities Include ...
 | ... championing the rights and beliefs of
humanists.
IHEU campaigns for societies to be more
open, more secular and more ethical. It presents the case for
understanding the world without reference to a god and it
defends the rights of people who reject religious and
authoritarian beliefs.
 | ... supporting humanist groups and projects.
IHEU provides advice and assistance to
support established humanist groups and to help set up new
ones. It raises funds for projects by humanist groups in the
developing world. As well as giving immediate aid to people in
need, humanist development programs focus on education and
helping people to help themselves. Humanist initiatives tackle
many issues - such as family planning, AIDS education, and
women's rights - which other organizations often avoid because
of religious sensitivities.
 | ... giving a moral lead.
IHEU works to provide a positive moral
influence on society and to promote ethical, human-based
viewpoints on controversial moral issues. In particular, it
tackles issues where religion has obstructed the right to
self-determination, such as sexual relationships, voluntary
euthanasia and reproductive rights. IHEU organizes moral
education initiatives, and produces leaflets, reports and
books to stimulate debate and to inform policy-makers.
 | ... developing an international community.
IHEU produces International Humanist News, a
quarterly magazine with news and special features on humanist
developments, edited by Jim Herrick. Regular Congresses enable
humanists from around the world to meet and exchange ideas.
Conferences and dialogues are also held on specialized themes.
 | ... representing humanism to the world.
IHEU has consultative status at the United
Nations, UNESCO, UNICEF, the Council of Europe, and the
European Union and Parliament, where it represents the views
and concerns of the millions of members of humanist
organizations and the hundreds of millions more people who
accept humanist principles in their life. And by representing
humanism to the world's media, IHEU ensures that an
ever-greater number of people learn of the humanist
alternative.

The International Society for Knowledge
Organisation (ISKO) was founded in 1989 with the purpose of
functioning both on a national and international level as the
connecting link between any and all institutions concerned with
conceptual questions pertaining to the organization and processing
of knowledge. It wishes to contribute to an intensified and
accelerated exchange of experience, thereby helping to fill a
widespread need for clarification and expansion of existing
knowledge in this field.
ISKO is conceived of as an international circle
of all colleagues - mainly from the information science fields -
who work on problems related to the conceptual organization of
knowledge. Its scientific bases are seen to lie in the
methodological knowledge from the fields of logic, system theory,
organization science, psychology, science theory, informatics,
semiotics, linguistics and philosophy, particularly epistemology.
Accordingly, ISKO membership is sought by and offered to
representatives of these fields of knowledge as well as of their
application fields.
In its statutes ISKO has set itself the
following tasks:
"Promotion of research, development and application of all
methods for the organization of knowledge in general or of
particular fields by integrating especially the conceptual
approaches of classification research and artificial intelligence.
ISKO stresses philosophical, psychological and semantic approaches
for a conceptual order of objects.
In particular, ISKO will
(1) awaken and support an understanding for the
practical and heuristic usefulness of such an organization of
knowledge.
(2) promote on a national and international level the exchange of
information and experience of scientists and practitioners in this
area, especially by giving advice in the construction, perfection
and application of such organization tools as classification
systems, thesauri, terminologies, nomenclatures as well as the
syntactical tools going with them;
(3) observe internationally the progress made in this work;
(4) concentrate on major points of this knowledge field in special
working groups;
(5) hold regular meetings in order to support these activities.
