Journal
of Interdisciplinary Studies in Literature, Continental Philosophy,
Phenomenological Psychology, and the Arts.
Janus
Head is devoted to maintaining an attitude of respect and
openness to the various manifestations of truth in human
experience; it strives to foster understanding through meditative
thinking, narrative structure, and poetic imagination. Like
the Janus head reliefs found over the doorways of old Roman
homes, this journal, too, is situated at a threshold. The
space within this journal, like the space beyond the Janus
head relief, is a space where dwelling can occur, where
thinking can take place, and where community can be built.

Established
in 1942 by the American Society for Aesthetics, The Journal
of Aesthetics and Art Criticism publishes current research
articles, symposia, special issues, and timely reviews of
books in aesthetics and the arts. The "arts" are
taken to include not only the traditional forms such as music,
literature, landscape architecture, dance, painting, architecture,
sculpture, and other visual arts, but also more recent additions
including photography, film, earthworks, performance and conceptual
art, the crafts and decorative arts, contemporary technical
innovations, and other cultural practices, including work
and activities in the field of popular culture.
The
Journal takes a theoretical and interdisciplinary approach
to the arts and aesthetic matters. Its authors include artists,
writers, and academics in the fields of philosophy, English
literature, comparative literature, art, music, theater
and drama, art history, psychology, law, and related disciplines.
The Journal also sponsors the bi-annual John Fisher Memorial
Prize in Aesthetics in honor of John Fisher, Editor of the
Journal from 1973-1988. The Prize is offered to foster the

in comparative religious ethics, considerations of foundational
conceptual and methodological issues, and historical studies

Edited
by philosophers, published by librarians, free to readers
of the web...
Philosophers'
Imprint is a refereed series of original papers in philosophy,
edited by philosophy faculty at the University of Michigan,
with the advice of an international Board of Editors, and
published on the World Wide Web by the University of Michigan
Digital Library. The mission of the Imprint is to
promote a future in which funds currently spent on journal
subscriptions are redirected to the dissemination of scholarship
for free, via the Internet.
Although
the Imprint is edited by analytically trained philosophers,
it is not restricted to any particular field or school of
philosophy. Its target audience consists primarily of academic
philosophers and philosophy students, but it also aims to
attract non-academic readers to philosophy by making excellent
philosophical scholarship available without license or subscription.
The
Imprint issues papers at irregular intervals; readers
can receive periodic notices of recent publications by subscribing
to an electronic mailing list. Papers are published in an
attractive, typeset format that can be read on-screen or
printed by the reader. Their physical appearance and Universal
Resource Locators (URLs) are permanently fixed, to allow
for reliable citations. The Imprint provides its
own indexes and full-text search engine, in addition to
being indexed by Philosophers' Index and public search
engines.
Submissions
to the Imprint are refereed anonymously and selected
for publication on the basis of their estimated long-term
significance. The Imprint does not publish regular
book reviews or discussion notes, though papers responsive
to the current literature may of course meet the Editors'
criteria. Submissions must be sent electronically; submissions
in hard copy will not be considered, acknowledged, or returned.
Although there is no page limit on submissions, the Editors
value economy of expression and do not currently plan to
publish book-length works.

Philosophical
Writings is an international journal with no commitment
to any particular school or branch of philosophy. Our remit
is twofold: to encourage innovative or unusual ways of presenting
philosophical ideas - including dialogue, verse, types of
fiction, diagram; secondly, to provide a channel for the publication
of work by postgraduates and new academics. We welcome submissions
from established academics, and aim to orientate such pieces
for the interest of our readers by including a profile of
personal influences and interests. In this manner Philosophical
Writings hopes to play a vital role in the growth and
development of philosophical awareness in the next generation
of philosophers.
Philosophical
Writings was established in 1996 through the combined
creative efforts of Stuart R. Hanscomb, Paul S. MacDonald,
J. Barry Stobbart and David J. Mossley. Originally PhD students
at the University
of Durham, all four have since completed their research
and, in the spirit of the journal, have now passed on the
torch to an editorial board consisting of new PhD students.

The hallmark
of the most exciting developments in contemporary social theory
and research is that issues of space and culture
are placed to the fore. The distinction of Space and Culture
is its grounding in everyday life: the habitual, and the
mundane practices which make up the material of contemporary
culture. Space and Culture is a cross-disciplinary
journal which fosters the publication of reflections on a
wide range of socio-spatial arenas such as the home, architecture,
urbanism and geopolitics. We encourage the application of
contemporary theoretical debates in cultural studies, discourse
analysis, post-colonialism to research on sexuality, migrant
and diasporic identities, virtual identities and virtual citizenship.
Space and Culture is unique in having the explicit
mission of bringing cutting-edge theory to the contexts and
sites of social change.

Teaching
Philosophy provides an open forum for the exchange and
evaluation of ideas, information, and materials concerning
the teaching of philosophy. Published quarterly, each issue
contains articles, discussions, reports, and case studies
on practical and theoretical issues. Areas explored include
the relationship between philosophy and its teaching, the
nature of philosophy curricula, courses and methods, and the
unique problems that exist for philosophy teachers.
The
journal investigates experimental and interdisciplinary
courses with philosophical content as well as those that
develop the philosophical aspects of other fields. Readers
will learn about innovative teaching methods, successful
classroom stratagems, and the use of new materials. An extensive
review section includes reviews of new books, computer software,
and instructional videos.

Tekhnema
presents a forum in which relations between philosophy and
technology can be discussed, made more complex, and experimented
upon. It is not a philosophical journal, if one understands
by philosophy the refusal (however mediated and subtle) to
affirm technology and the sciences. It is not a journal of
technology, if one sees in such a journal an inability to
assume--in philosophical terms--the fate of modern technics
and the links between technics, the sciences and culture at
large...
