The International Association of Empirical Aesthetics was founded in 1965 by D.E. Berlyne, Robert Franc│s, Carmelo Genovese, and Albert Wellek. The association is open to all who are interested in empirical studies of aesthetics and of the arts, literature, and music. Most members are anthropologists, psychologists, semioticians, and sociologists. However, a number are practicing artists, humanistic scholars, and philosophers who have an interest in empirical studies of the arts.
