Grace
-- Jeff Buckley / Audio CD / Released
1994
This is Jeff's first and only full length
release before his untimely death in 1997. His pitch-perfect and
utterly astounding voice captured me from the first listen of
"Grace." With great range and emotion songs like
"Lilac Wine," "Lover, You Should've Come
Over," and a cover of the great Leonard Cohen's
"Hallelujah" slice through your heart and rumble
through your core. Well, at least they do that for me. Jeff had
full recognition his voice was a finely crafted instrument and
he played it to perfection. The posthumous "Sketches
(For My Sweetheart the Drunk)" contains music he had yet to
put the final touches on, and while it too is a must, we
are left only with "Grace" to truly signify what the
world is sadly missing.
